CEREC® Restorations

Traditionally, it takes at least two visits to make and place a porcelain restoration. The tooth is prepared during the first visit and an impression is made to send to a dental laboratory so that the restoration can be crafted. Then, after a few weeks, the patient returns for a second visit to have the restoration placed. At San Jose Smile Makeover, CEREC® technology allows us to create and place porcelain restorations — including crowns, inlays, and onlays — in a single office visit. We use CEREC® technology to fabricate porcelain restorations right in our office.

We first prepare your tooth for the restoration and use the CEREC® machine to take a digital impression of the area. With this digital image, the CEREC® machine custom crafts your crown, inlay, or onlay to exact specifications so that it fits your prepared tooth perfectly. Moments later, the porcelain restoration is ready and Dr. Weatherholt bonds it in place. With CEREC® our patients no longer have to wait weeks to receive a porcelain restoration. Contact San Jose Smile Makeover to learn more about CEREC® restorations and how they can help you achieve a beautiful and healthy smile in a single office visit!

Implant Dentistry

Missing teeth can detract from an otherwise beautiful smile and can cause chewing and speaking problems as the surrounding teeth shift out of place. There are several options available today for the replacement of missing teeth, but only implant dentistry offers a solution that looks and functions just like natural teeth. Dental implants do not affect surrounding teeth as do dental bridges, and there is no risk of implants shifting out of place as is common with dentures. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth or several teeth, and to stabilize dentures.

Implant dentistry is based on the body’s healing power and the biocompatibility of titanium. A titanium post is implanted into the patient’s jawbone to act as an artificial root for the replacement tooth. During a healing period, the jawbone fuses to the titanium post, forming a strong foundation. Once the healing is complete, a natural-looking artificial tooth is custom crafted and placed on the post.

Dr. Carey Weatherholt is highly experienced in the creation of lifelike artificial replacement teeth for dental implants as well as the restoration of existing dental implants. He can fashion a replacement tooth for your dental implant that blends in with surrounding teeth and looks extremely natural. If you live in or near the San Jose, Sunnyvale, or Santa Clara area and would like to learn more about implant dentistry, contact Dr. Weatherholt today.
